Your athlete needs to slow down.
Your athlete needs to create space.
This simple skill can buy time and allow your athlete to play with confidence.
Catching the ball with your full body is important. Catching the balk on a quick stop is a game changer.
It will allow your athlete to pivot in multiple directions on both feet which allows them to do two critical things: #1create space, and #2 buy time to make the right play.
this video below is where we would start to develop footwork and pivoting habits. As your athlete develops they will be challenged in different ways to put it under pressure.
We love to work on finishing at our workouts.
The reverse roll is a good way to score
The athlete must:
1. Drive to score
2. Finish on right side of basket or left depending on driving direction
3. Keep eyes up and see the ball through the net
We progress in our workouts
1. Form and feet
2. Intensity and speed
3. Contact for reading ball defender and help side defense
4. Competitive game situation - live!
