Every time we step foot into an arena of something we love to do or be apart of - something good happens at the right time. Notice I said at the right time. Not when we want it to happen, but when it's right for the moment. All we can do is keep showing up. Keep pouring into the thing we love pouring into. So take that basketball and those shoes, and keep showing up to practice, workouts, games, and opportunities to get better. It will pay off! ![]() To Change....defined as to MAKE or become different. On every team there or roles, jobs, and characteristics that players are assigned too. Or they naturally fall into that duty because of their skill set, size, or effort level. On some teams this leads to really successful outcomes or results. This is great! However, there are players out there that want more. Want to do more. Want to be better. Want to contribute more to the team. Are already good, but want to add more to their game. The really difficult thing is it requires CHANGE. Something has to become different. Something has to CHANGE. Players have control over their skill set. They have control of their confidence. They control how that change happens or doesn't happen. It's the time to make that CHANGE. If you want it. It's time to form a plan on how you the player will CHANGE for the better. Now look, every player can stay the same - doing the same thing for the team to win. That's important too. Don't get all selfish on your team or coaches. That's not what I'm talking about. While you are fulfilling that role. Spend extra time making that CHANGE. Spend time improving the ballhandling. Improve the shooting. Improve the ability to finish at the rim. So next time when you come back to the court - little by little that CHANGE will start to show while you are competing. It's uncomfortable. But it's worth it. That choice to CHANGE can lead to something different. Keep working. Keep fighting to improve. It all comes to life at the right time. It can ah and ooh the crowd. However, handling the ball against pressure can go relatively unnoticed. Pounding the ball confidently against a bigger, faster, or stronger defender might go unappreciated to the crowd or the fans. However to coaches - taking care of the basketball might be number one in their books of important skills. Right behind defense and making shots. It is a skill. Taking care of the ball while dribbling, passing, catching, or attacking the rim. That is why we created the ballhandling skills session this summer. 4 dedicated workouts to developing better handles. Dribbling with more confidence against pressure defense. Using the dribble to effectively help make plays.
