Getting better is a lot like getting in the car and driving on the highway.
First we start out knowing where we’re going. We have a destination. We have a place we want to be. Then along this journey there’s different ways to get to our destination. second
We can get in a lane and we just go all the way nonstop -- we make all the lights - there’s not much traffic - it’s smooth sailing and we get there. When we get there we’re happy we’re content where excited to be there.
Then you get sometimes where you are going and you hit every red light and traffic is just really slow it’s creeping along at a snail's pace. Frustration maybe even anger sets in because we’re just not getting there as quick as we’d like. However this is where we are really getting better right here, this is where we’re developing skills and improving as a person and a player.
The third way is you make a few lights. Traffic is stop and go. Sometimes fast and sometimes slow. Every once in awhile their might be detour, but in the end we make it to our destination.
This is this is how the development of basketball is sometimes -- it’s smooth sometimes it’s rough sometimes, it’s easy sometimes, it’s hard sometimes, we play well sometimes and we don’t play well.
But as you’re going through it, it’s really all about that mental approach and how does your son or daughter believe in the destination they are going to. He at EYG would love to help your son or daughter get to their destination. We’ve got workouts for fourth through seventh graders and eighth through 12th graders this winter. Let’s get in the gym and get to where you want to go.
