Scoring at the rim with layups is important. Coaches design offenses and plays so their players can get to the rim and score. Why is scoring at the rim important for players? 1. It puts a ton of pressure on the defense. Pressure on defense makes them work harder which means there will be breakdowns for driving lanes. 2. Coaches trust players that can make layups. With trust comes more playing time or the opportunity to play. 3. It creates space. Once a players scores at the rim consistently, defense will back off which will allow them to hit jumpers. Once a player can do both - layups and shots - consistently, they are hard to guard. Session #1 - Ballhandling ** Session #2 - Shooting
