As a parent myself I understand the choices of Individual workouts vs Small Group. What is best for my child?

Below is a portion of an article about small group vs individual training.

At EYG we love the small group option for a number of reasons. After you read this post and are interested training in a small group contact me at galen@eygbball.com or visit www.eygbball.com

Individual vs. Small Group

The first step to creating a player development environment that transfers skills from workouts to games is shifting from delivering individual sessions to small groups. It is challenging to create complete game-like, task representative environments in individual workouts. This is especially difficult for parents to grasp as they feel their child gets more attention in an individual workout. Therefore, parent education is required to help parents understand the benefit of small-group practice.

Often, small groups involve position specific training. The guards work with other guards, while post players work with other post...

Simple right?

The open jumper. The no dribble jumper.

Actually there is a lot that goes into the no dribble jumper, and those players that make it look so simple actually have probably shot 1000's of shots.

We understand how much your player wants to make shots. Wants to make this no dribble jump shot.

Our clinics, classes, camps, and training programs are created to help players do the things this college player does in the video.

1. Move WITHOUT the basketball.

2. Get in the vision of the teammate and/or verbally communicate to teammates.

3. Shoot the ball with confidence and a mentality to move on to the next play.

This week's videos will hit the Spot Up category for players.

Check out the upcoming videos.

Or even better, let's start training today with one of our EYG Trainers.

more

Final move of the week is the Jump Hook No Dribble.

Quick and efficient move in the post to score over defenders.

Again whether you are a guard or a big, being able to score in the post is an effective way to score in the paint and at the rim.

Keep shooting the three and finishing at the rim. But add a post move to your game and use it when the opportunity to comes.

more

This is an advanced post move and score.

The player does three things really well to create this scoring opportunity.

1. Looks middle with his eyes on the catch. In all of these videos the players have looked middle to read the defense.

2. Uses the dribble to get to his spot or closer to his spot and get some rhythm.

3. Separates with the last bump and jump away from the defender to create space.

A high level scoring move, but effective if players have the strength and skills to go with it.

more

This is a quick and effective way for players to score in the post at the rim.

Watch as the player does three things to make the move and score.

1. Eyes to the middle on the catch. Every post move has started with this simple yet highly important part of the moves

2. Spins Off the Defender. Uses their contact to make the move more effective and quick

3. Jumps out to the basket. Not really jumping up at all, but more out towards the basket to get the shot off quickly.

Remember, any player can score in the post.

If you are a player looking to add any scoring moves to your game check out a skills training memberships or programs.

As former college coaches and players we are looking to help players add the skills to their game that will allow them to make plays.

3 Things to Score in Transition

2/22/2021

Players want to score in transition.

Coaches want easy scores for their team.

Parents love to watch their kids make plays.

So not scoring in transition or really anytime can be frustrating for all people. Let's end that frustration and create a situation where you, the player, can create positives for yourself, your team, your coaches, and your family. It's a win win win and win for all involved.

These 3 things can help players score in transition:

1. Get steals. Yep! This creates easy opportunities to score in transition

2. Attack at different speeds. Change of speed is a weapon of destruction on the basketball court.

3. Get downhill. Straight up the court and keep the defense on their heels.

As a parent, trainer, and coach I have seen players confidence...

Protecting the ball from defenders hands can be the difference between scoring or turning the ball over.

Use this extension as another way to move the ball away from the defenders hands and body.

Stretch it out and make a play.

more

Here is a great way to protect the ball while attacking the rim.

1. Squeeze the ball into your stomach

2. Get your shooting hand under the ball

3. Wrap you body over the ball

Drive through the contact and finish strong.

more

In today's video we work on putting the low sweeps and high rips together.

In this action players need to sell the first rip and come back with the second rip.

All while keeping the ball away from the defenders hands.

more

Good Example of attacking in transition with the inside hand.

1. Pushes the ball with the inside hand

2. Slows down or changes speed

3. Allows teammate to catch up with a hard sprint up the floor.
